This fortnights shooters profile - DANIELLE CRAKE of WA |
|
| Name? | Danielle Crake |
| Age? | Do I have to tell....? |
| Where can you be seen shooting? | I compete on most Sundays at the Pine Valley Pistol Club, though I do try to visit other clubs in the metro area. |
| What sort of pistol do you shoot? | I use a Strayer Voight Frame, STI Slide, Open Division pistol, 38 super with a Relic custom 3 hole Ventury (sp?) 5 port full profile comp, a Lissner Bull Barrel and I use a 125grn projectile with around 8 grns of AP100 (makes a power factor of 176). For optics I am using a C-more sight (a lovely shade of blue). I have opted for a flat trigger (a nice shade of red). The gun was built by Ivan of Rhelic Custom. He has done a great job, especially in building a gun for a girl. Not all of us have the upperbody strength to hold onto the pistols properly, but this one sits beautifully flat. |
| What do you do for a living? | I work in the public sector for the Department of Land Administration. I am a Geographic Information Officer. |
| Marital Status? | Single |
| What do you do enjoy doing when your not on range? | My newest hobby is inline skating, though I am not very good at it. I have two dogs which I enjoy taking to dog shows to prance them around the ring. I enjoy going to the movies and getting old movies on video. Other than the above, I am spending time and money fixing up my home, which I do enjoy for the most part. |
| What are your IPSC likes? | I love the diversity of the sport. I enjoy the new challenges which are presented each week. I like the people (for the most part) that you meet at the clubs and I really enjoy travelling to matches elsewhere in WA, interstate and overseas. |
| What are your IPSC dislikes? | I hate the way that some people think just because you put your heart and soul into the organisation (to the detriment of your own shooting) that you must be doing it for some sort of gain, i.e. financial, social or ego-tripping. I hate people being two-faced and underhanded and I extremely dislike people who are only in the sport to win and to hell with the sportsmanship. |
| Your favorite movie? | Pretty much anything with John Wayne in it (or any other western for that matter) but I really liked "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance", "The Searchers", "The Sons of Katie Elder" and the "Cowboys" which made me cry. |
| If you had to share a room with 3 people for the next 3 months who would you choose? | Someone who liked to cook, another who liked to clean and the third has to like to do the ironing (I hate all three!). |
| Your favorite home cooked meal? | I like a good old fashioned roast. Can be roast beef, lamb, pork or chicken. There would have to be potatoes, pumpkin some greens (even brussel sprouts!!) and any other vegetables (except mushrooms....uuugggghhhkkkk) and a nice bottle of wine. |
| Your favorite TV show? | I have a few shows I hate missing, they are "Buffy" and "Angel" (gotta love those vampires), "The Bill", "Third Watch" and "ER". I am fond of documentaries but I am beginning to detest those "REALITY" programs. |
| If you were a dancer in a strip club, what would your stage name be? | Oh, I don't know.... something silly...... Mindy, Cindy, Kandy...... I seriously doubt any name I would choose would encourage anyone to see me take my clothes off on stage. |
| How often do you ogle at the brilliant Team Adrenalin web page? | I check in on the page at least once a week to see what the boys have been up to! |
| You're an experienced National RO. What's the most serious breach of safety that forced you to DQ somebody on range? | I have had shooters turn and point their loaded handguns at me at
the end of a stage with the finger still in the trigger guard (that made my knees go a
little weak). They were too 'pumped' to know what they were doing. People
dropping handguns is bad but not that uncommon, but I guess the worst was probably when a
shooter loaded their handgun in the safety area because they wanted to test-fire it!
This area was right next to a designated spectator area and the butts were only 4
feet away from the shooter. They did not understand at first why they were being
penalised, that was the really scary thing. If they were silly enough to do that, what else where they capable of? |
| The most entertaining thing you have seen on range? | Watching a top shooter at a nationals make a mistake and try to get a reshoot by 'backing up' into a range officer. However the RO was faster than the shooter and kept retreating up range just out of reach for the shooter. It took the shooter quite a few paces to realise that the RO knew exactly what he was doing and that it was not going to work!! By then the shooter was so far away from where he wanted to be that he totally blew the stage! A close second was when a shooter who 'streaked' at a Northern Territory pistol range. All he had on was a pair of socks! |
| If you won a million dollars in lotto what would be the first thing
you would buy? |
I would buy a V8 Ford Bronco with all the trimmings....... |
| The second? | Shares in a petrol company!.... seriously, probably a big block of land just outside the metro area on which I can build a house. |
| I if you had $20,000 to spend on a holiday, where would you go? | I would like to go to Spain for at least 3 months. |
| Do you have a pet if so what's it's name? | Yes I do have a pet, I have two Bull Terriers (miniature). The male is Shere Khan (loosely translated it means 'Bright Prince') and the female is Sharnie (meaning 'marvellous). |
