Brief Description:

OGSA is its own licensing body and is affiliated with the International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) both with WA and Aust., and also the Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (SSAA).

Our club best reflects the multi discipline shooting our members have come to enjoy.  Predominately, practical pistol shooting will feature at the club, as it is the most exciting of all the disciplines, involving engaging static or moving targets either standing still, on the run, sometimes carrying a required object, through doors or openings, starting seated, kneeling, laying down, but always against the clock.  But this sport also requires accuracy as well as speed, as you are awarded points for each stage.  The object of the game is the higher the number of points with the least time, wins.

Our disciplines are:

  1. Practical Pistol
  2. Practical Rifle
  3. Practical Shotgun
  4. Small bore pistol
  5. Small bore rifle
  6. Big bore rifle
  7. Big bore pistol
  8. Shotgun Trap
  9. Steel Challenge

Our steel challenge ranges are the only ranges in the metro area totally set up and available at any time.

We have 18 ranges in total including ranges to handle rifles.

We are also renowned for our ‘Surprise Shoots’, where competitors are not given a chance to see the course before they start.  This course gets paid extra attention to detail and usually induces additional adrenalin for extra fun.

Other Information:

OGSA had its early beginnings around 1983, and with a relocation and name change to reflect its purpose, our club enjoys an international sport that is demanding, both, mentally and physically to rival any Olympic shooting sport.

The club prides it self on bringing together people from all sectors of the community. The age of our members ranges from early teens to retirees. Their occupations are similarly diverse with virtually all of the professions and trade vocations represented.  Beginners are always our priority, as it introduces better competition as they progress through the grades.

We hold interclub competitions, and we invite competitors from other clubs to combat against our members for trophies and prizes and at the end we enjoy the food and drinks.

Our clubhouse has a fully licensed bar that overlooks the city skyline all the way down to Kwinana.  After a morning or afternoon shoot, everyone is welcomed back for a b-b-que and drinks.  Our ranges are also facilitated with 3 separate toilet blocks.

OGSA is a volunteer run organization with members encouraged to actively participate both in a formal capacity on the committee of Management and in an informal way by getting involved to help run both shooting and social events.  All are welcome to come along and spend an afternoon watching or participating in one of the safest and, if you desire, most competitively demanding sports in the world today.
